Here is a list of the basic services/tools needed for marketing on the internet.  Most of the companies providing these services offer “free to join” affiliate programs.  You can join them and promote them to eliminate your monthly fees and over time, you could also start to profit from each of them. Keep in mind this is the “short-list”, but I didn’t want to overwhelm anyone with too many tools, master these first! 

• Hosting – A web hosting company is responsible for maintaining all the “behind-the-scenes” files that make up what you see when you visit a web site.  In addition, they also supply software programs that make web pages “work”. (i.e. shopping carts, catalogs/inventories etc.)        

• Web Site / Landing or Lead Capture Page – Most of you have heard all of these terms, but I want to quickly clarify the differences between each one.  A Web Site is made up of pages and that’s what a visitor sees on the internet when they go to a specific domain name.  A Landing Page is an interim page that a visitor sees before going to the main web site.  The sole purpose of a landing page is to turn visitors into subscribers or opt-ins, by capturing their name, email address and any other information you may desire.
   
• Autoresponder – An autoresponder service is vital to internet marketing.  It allows you to create the subscriber/opt-in forms you see on the Landing Page.  You will use this service to build your prospect database and send out email marketing letters and other communications to your subscribers.           

• Ad Tracking – We all know advertising is essential and one of the most expensive components of doing business.  Always, test your ads by tracking them and then, test and track them again.  Unless you know where your web site traffic is coming from, which ads are performing and which ones are duds, you are leaving big money on the table.  If your advertising is not effective, sales will be minimal at best.        

• Audio/Video – Using an audio service and a video service is an easy and effective way for you to make your web sites, blogs and emails talk!  It’s a great way to add that personal touch to all of your marketing efforts. You only have a very short time to attract your new prospect and this is one of the best ways to get and keep their attention.

You now have the basics. Use the major search engines to find the different companies offering these essential services.  Study and compare each of the services as you review their web sites.  Learn what each service offers and ask questions of the site owners so you really know what services you are buying before you buy.  Remember, it’s hard to duplicate other people’s successes without using the same proven techniques they use.  We all want to be successful, so it’s important to put these services/tools to work for your internet home business.  Bottom line, become a student of this industry.  Talk to as many people as you can, learn and then take action.  As you learn more and more, modify your action plan and help your business grow and become even more profitable.
